Man Charged In Underage Drinking Inspection At Suffolk Bar

Suffolk County Police arrested the 34-year-old Holbrook man following the State Liquor Authority SLA inspection at a bar in Port Jefferson.

In response to community complaints, Sixth Precinct Crime Section officers, working with the SLA and Suffolk County Police Sixth Precinct Community Support Units, conducted the investigation into underage drinking at Portside Bar and Grill, located at 242 E. Main Street, at approximately 2 a.m.

During the course of the investigation, Christopher Chernis was charged with first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child. He was issued a Field Appearance Ticket and released. The owners of the bar were cited for numerous ABC violations by the State Liquor Authority, police said.
